Understanding the Different Types of Membrane Switches

Membrane switches also come with overlays, which are made of polyester or polycarbonate. These overlays are printed with conductive inks containing silver or carbon before they are attached to a wire. Depending on the demand, the way the overlay is attached may vary. One of the more common methods of attachment involves the application of a sticky layer on the overlay, which is then glues the overlay and the circuit board together. The application of pressure causes the overlay and the circuit boards sticky areas to attach together, completing the circuit.
